The Asian Hockey Federation’s council had announced on Saturday that Malaysia will the hosting for the 2013 Asia Cup hockey, the tournament that will offer qualification berth for the 2014 World Cup. This will be the second successive time that Malaysia will host the continental championship to be organized by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.

Asian Hockey Cup 2013 will be start from 24th August to 1st September 2013 at held on Malaysia. Asian Hockey Federation has also the announced the date of matches, fixture and teams for this event. In this tournament eight teams are divided in two pools A and B. Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, China, are the part of group A and Group B is Korea, India, Oman and Bangladesh. Venue IPOH is decided for all the matches.

Pakistan and Korea won the title three times each while India became winner for two times. Korea clinched the 8th Asia Cup while Pakistan remained runners-up. Asia Cup is event for the men and women’s and it was introduced in 1982 by Asian Hockey Federation. Pakistan have won the three titles of the Asia Cup and last time they were runner up against Korea in 2009.  It was introduced in 1982  for men competition and the women’s competition was added a year .

The Men Asia Hockey Cup 2013  is the eighth tournament to date in Hockey Asia Cup for men. The winner of this tournament will receive a direct entry into Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014.
